I have combined the very well accepted $3 shareware 350+ sites "A MacHead's
Bookmarks" (over 4,000 downloads in 2 weeks) with the "MEGAmac 1001+
Bookmarks" to create the world's largest collection of Mac oriented sites on
the WWW Internet and for only $2 more.
Some 33 categories from Apple (60 sites) to Web A to Z (220 sites) and
EVERYTHING in-between.
There's a new category "A MacHead Homepages" the homepages of MacHead
subscribers who CHOOSE to have their pages listed.
Please download it TODAY. Includes complete import instructions for NetScape,
all versions. May also be imported or drag 'n dropped into Cyberdog with
system 7.5 and up. Please read the READ ME or Else file for why this is
shareware to help with my disability.

Subject: [*] BladePro 2.0.8 - Metallic reflections filter
Version 2.0.8 is a maintenance release which relieves the not enough
memory messages. Processing speed is slightly faster, and there are new
environments and presets.
* * *
BladePro, the Photoshop filter that combines textures with bevels and
mirrorlike reflections, now has amazing new features.
BladePro puts you in control of lighting and surfaces, and offers a wide
selection of edge styles. Produce reflections with the included
environment maps (gold, chrome, outdoor scenes) or make your own.
And now you can make glassy objects with prismatic catchlights, tarnish
any surface, pour on iridescent oil-slick colors, and customize your
textures. Over 100 presets get you started right away with all the
possibilities.
Quickly create appealingly 'touchable' 3-D appearances like slippery ice
or weathered copper, as well as eye-catching text, buttons, and special
effects.
BladePro is shareware for Macintosh, and requires a paint program and
QuickTime. You can check for updates at
http://ccn.cs.dal.ca/~aa731/blade.html .

Subject: [*] Bookends Plus 4.02-Reference
Bookends Plus 4.02 is a complete bibliography/reference management system
with World Wide Web capabilities. Bookends was developed *specifically* and
*only* for Apple Macintosh.
Bookends Plus offers a powerful, flexible, and sophisticated means of saving,
retrieving, and formatting references for bibliographies or footnotes. It's a
database that allows fast and easy retrieval of reference information-not
just where, when, and by whom, but also why and how. You can enter large
abstracts and comments. You can search the database for authors, keywords, or
any combination of words anywhere in the reference description. References
can be entered manually, or imported from an almost unlimited number of
on-line sources.
Bookends is also a powerful formatter of information. Reference information
can be rearranged in virtually any configuration, allowing the creation of
bibliographies for papers or articles that can be submitted directly to a
journal or magazine. Bookends can generate a complete bibliography in any
journal style you choose.
Bookends offers other features to further simplify your job: linking to your
word processor for instant switching back and forth with Bookends,
alphabetical listings of authors and keywords, alphabetizing, deletion of
duplicate references, and many more options developed specifically for the
needs of reference management.
In addition to its powerful reference management features, Bookends makes it
simple to "publish" reference information on the World Wide Web (Web). You
can:
* Format references (bibliographies) in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML),
suitable for incorporating into a web page.
* Allow users to search one or more Bookends databases from a form on your
web page and retrieve the formatted results.
* Have Bookends return hypertext links to itself before or after the results
of a search; clicking on a hypertext link will instruct Bookends to fetch and
format the requested information.
* Allow Web users to *enter* references into a Bookends database via the Web
(with a password protection option).

Subject: [*] Concordance v. 2.0b1
Concordance is freeware.
=A9 1995-1997 by Giovanni Giusti . Concordance may
be freely distributed but not for profit. It can be posted to BBSs, travel
through the Net, be given to friends and foes, BUT IT CANNOT BE SOLD, nor
can it be distributed without this Read Me file.
What does it do?
Concordance picks a TEXT file, reads it, then displays some information
about the original file, such as size, number of words, number of different
words, etc.
It also creates an index containing a list (the concordance) of all the
words, together with how many times each word appeared in the original.
Thus it is useful for statistical purposes ("How many times did I mention
"barracuda" in my article?"). This list can be sorted prior to saving.
More info in the README file.

The Comp.Sys.Mac.Programmer Digest is moderated by Mark Aiken
(marka@ee.mcgill.ca).
The digest is a collection of article threads from the internet
newsgroups comp.sys.mac.programmer.help, csmp.tools, csmp.misc and
csmp.games. It is designed for people who read news semi-regularly and
want an archive of the discussions. If you don't know what a
newsgroup is, you probably don't have access to it. Ask your systems
administrator(s) for details. If you don't have access to news, you
may still be able to post messages to the group by using a mail server
like anon.penet.fi (mail help@anon.penet.fi for more information).
Each issue of the digest contains one or more sets of articles (called
threads), with each set corresponding to a 'discussion' of a particular
subject. The articles are not edited; all articles included in this digest
are in their original posted form (as received by our news server at
ee.mcgill.ca). Article threads are not added to the digest until the last
article added to the thread is at least two weeks old (this is to ensure that
the thread is dead before adding it to the digest). Article threads that
consist of only one message are generally not included in the digest.
The digests can be obtained by email, ftp or through the World Wide Web.
If you want to receive the digest by mail, send email to

Subject: [*] OT/PPP MultiDialer v1.0b1
OTPPPMultiDialer is an AppleScript application based on OT/PPP Switch. It
will either open a PPP connection if one is not already open, or close
one that is open. Additionally, if it tries to connect on a phone number,
and that attempt fails, you can cancel out of the attempt, and try to
connect again, only the Dialer will use the next phone number that you
have supplied when configuring the script application. If your ISP has
several dialup phone numbers, and it is a pain to keep re-entering the
next phone number with each connect attempt, just enter the list of
numbers into this script, and let the script do the work of redialing.
System Requirements:
*Any Mac with AppleScript installed, and the scriptable Finder, including
Macs running OS8.
*OT/PPP and the PPP Commands scripting addition (PPP Commands is
installed by default with OT/PPP).
*Jon's Commands, an excellent and free scripting addition available on
Info-Mac in the development/open scripting directory.

Objective Software announces the maintenance release of PrintGuard 1.0.1.
* Version 1.0.1 (97/11/19)
- fixes a conflict with Adobe Illustrator(tm),
- changes the implementation of the printer detection and warning dialog,
- and several bug fixes.
PrintGuard - a control panel to alert users trying to print on previously
identified network printers. Useful for your company, university,
cybercafe, wherever there are free access computers with network printers.
Imagine your network includes a dye sublimation printer and somebody tries
to use it to print a 300 pages manual... and just think how much this will
cost you! PrintGuard will warn this thoughtless user that the printer
he/she chose is an expensive one to use.

Subject: [*] Quick Trasher v1.5a
This is another of those "handy little items" type apps that I wrote for
myself. I sometimes end up with a lot of files and folders that I need to
get rid of, and rather than take two or three steps to trash them, I use
QuickTrasher. It will take any item or items dropped on its icon and
delete them without warning. Beware, that you better be sure that you
want to get rid of whatever you drop on this droplet. This version skips
the Finder's trash routine and uses a simple deleteFile function found in
Jon's Commands. Using this method makes the script even simpler, and
won't have any effect on the user preferences that you have set for the
trash.
New Features:
This version just cleans up the ReadMe file and adds a warning about the
handling of alias files. Thanks to Peter Kappesser
(petercat@furry.fan.org) for pointing that out. Be warned that an alias
file dropped on QuickTrasher will cause the original file to be deleted.
System Requirements:
*Any system with AppleScript installed and the scriptable Finder,
including OS8.
*Jon's Commands, an excellent and free scripting addition available on
Info-Mac in the development/open scripting directory.

Subject: [*] Quit Everything v1.5.1
QuitEverything is one of those little productivity tools that I like to
keep around. It will quit all running applications on your system, except
the Finder. If you are like me, then you can end up with 5 or 10
applications, large and small, all running at the same time (well, I do
have a fair amount of ram on my system, so I end up with a lot of apps
opened at the same time). It can be quite a chore to start quitting each
app one at a time, so I wrote this script to do it for me.
New Features:
Version 1.5.1 is a more robust version and should fix a minor bug that was
annoying me (I said that about version 1.5, too). It should clear variables
more reliably, so if you run Quit Everything with a stubborn process
running on your machine, the script shouldn't keep asking for that process
every time you run it after that.
System Requirements:
*Any system with AppleScript installed and the scriptable Finder, including =
OS8.
*Requires S=E4ndi's Additions, an excellent and free scripting addition
available on Info-Mac in the development/open scripting directory.

Subject: [*] ResEdit Appearance Templates
The new Appearance manager introduced with MacOS 8 is programmed with a set
of new resources ('alrx', 'dlgx', 'ldes', 'tab#', 'dftb' and 'xmnu'). In
Apple's preliminary distribution of the Appearance manager programmer
documentation, a Rez file is included, which allows users of Resourcer (or
Rez code 'jockeys') to make a set of Appearance manager templates, but
leaves ResEdit users out in the cold.
This package consists of a set of templates that allow editing of new
Appearance manager resources with ResEdit, with a couple of caveats (see
below). It will be of interest to developers and hackers who do not have
Resourcer, or who prefer to use ResEdit.
This package does not contain instructions on how to program the Appearance
manager, nor does it explain the data in the templates themselves. This
information can be found in the Appearance manager programmers kit
available from Apple (http://www.devworld.apple.com/MacOS8/).
The software required to use these templates is Apple's ResEdit (version
2.1.3), which can be downloaded from Apple's ftp site. It is not necessary
to have the Appearance manager in order to use the ResEdit templates.
This file has been checked for viruses with Disinfectant version 3.7.1.
Permission is given for this program to be included on the Info-Mac CD rom.

Subject: [*] SaveClipboard v1.3
This is a neat script. If you read a lot of text, and want to save
"clippings" from what you are reading, this might be for you. I sometimes
go through a lot of web pages, usenet postings, and e-mail. In all of
this reading, there are bound to be items I want to save, but don't
necessarily want to save whole text pages for just one line. Sometimes
all I want is a URL, phone number, or other tidbit of information. Using
this script, I select what I want to save, copy it to the clipboard, and
this script adds the clipboard contents to a text file. Later, I open the
text file, and there are all the clippings I made, ready for whatever I
want.
New Features:
This release adds a date and time stamp at the start of the saved text
clip, and a seperator line after the saved text.

*Any system with AppleScript installed and the scriptable Finder,
including OS8.

connection, quit the server, reconnect PPP, and then restart the server.
It has configuration options that asks you to locate the server
application on the drive and stores the location and name of the
application for later use.
Special Features: *Variable idle time period options of 15, 30, and 60
seconds. *If you need to start the server application with a specific
document open, you can set the Bot to open a document (this should be of
interest to those of you publishing on the web with applications like
=46ileMakerPro4 and want to have a specific document open on server

Singer is a cool control panel that plays specific sounds whenever you
type their name on the keyboard, regardless of whether you're typing inside
a word processor, a dialog box or anywhere else.
The sounds to play are stored in the "Singer Sounds" folder inside the
System folder and must be in double-clickable sound file format (aka System
7 sounds).
New sound collections for use with Singer will be soon released, thanks
to the contributions of various people. For example, you will be able to
turn your Mac into a farm, by making it play an animal's sound every time
you type the animal's name, and much more!

Subject: [*] SoundApp 2.4.2 - sound player and conversion utility
I'm happy to announce the availability of SoundApp 2.4.2. SoundApp is the
premiere sound playback and conversion utility for the Macintosh. It is
suitable for use as a sound-playing helper application with any of the
popular WWW browsers, in addition to managing a collection of favorite
sound samples and stand-alone usage. SoundApp remains freeware, so you
may use it at no cost. Information regarding licensing the conversion
and playback routines can be found in the internal "About SoundApp..."
documentation.
SoundApp has been mailed to the popular "macgifts" list, and should
appear on Info-Mac and the University of Michigan's archive sites in a
few days. In addition, you can download it directly via the WWW from:
Changes to SoundApp 2.4.2 include:
* Added a sound volume slider to the Controls palette,
* Added Export From QuickTime menu option,
* Added a play position AppleScript parameter,
* The Add=8A menu option now presents a new multiple get files dialog to
add files to a Play List,
* The send oms data AppleScript command now uses the selected device,
* The Get Info and Status windows now display the stereo mode for MPEG
files,
* Added a new Auto Play option which will automatically play a Play List
when it is opened,
* Added a new icon to trick Netscape into selecting a semi-valid file
type as its default,
* Now supports playback of some partially corrupt MIDI files,
* DOSifying file names is now a little smarter with file names with
non-standard suffixes,
SoundApp requires the following:
* At least a 68020 or PowerPC-based Macintosh (sorry 68000 users!),
* System 7.0 or greater, and
* Sound Manager 3.1 or greater (3.1 can be obtained from Apple, 3.2
is part of System 7.5.3 or greater and 3.2 is part of QuickTime 2.5).
* QuickTime 2.0 or greater for QuickTime support (2.5 preferred),
* The Drag Manager for drag and drop use in the Play Lists (part of
System 7.5 and later),
* A PowerPC-based Macintosh for MPEG support and better performance.

SoundEffects 0.92 - is a powerful sound editor. Its strength resides in the

change
sounds in many ways through its variety of effects, but it can also handle
multi-channel sounds, sampled at any rate up to 64kHz and with any sample size
between 1 and 32 bits. Recording rate and sample size are only limited by your
